Frequently Asked Questions

  • My office is located at 2805 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., Suite 115, Duluth, GA 30097. I am also licensed to practice online throughout the state of Georgia and in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Washington DC, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

  • Online therapy is a therapy session that takes place on your computer, tablet, or phone (any device with a camera and speakers will work) through HIPAA compliant video conferencing software. This allows you the freedom to schedule sessions without having to travel to my office. The only caveat is that you need to be located in a state in which I am licensed to provide teletherapy during the session. Research studies have shown that online therapy is as effective as therapy in person. I am licensed to practice online therapy in Georgia and in AL, AZ, AR, CO, DE, DC, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, ME, MD, MI, MN, MO, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NC, OH, OK, PA, RI, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WV, WI, and WY.

  • My fee for 50 minutes of individual psychotherapy is $225.00. I am currently in network with Aetna insurance. If you do not have Aetna, you would be considered self pay, and your out of network benefits would apply. Clients are often able to get reimbursed for 60-70% of the cost of their sessions after filing for their out of network benefits. To do this, you would pay me at the time of service and then I would provide you with a Superbill which you would send to the insurance company and they would reimburse you.

  • Prior to your first appointment you will fill out some paperwork (consent forms and a background questionnaire). We will spend our first session going over your background history in more detail, talking about your goals for therapy, and answering any questions you have for me.

  • This varies greatly among clients. I have some EMDR clients that only need 4-6 sessions before they feel that they have gotten what they needed. I have other clients that see therapy as a form of self-care and engage in it to maintain good mental health, so they stay in it for months or years. It is completely up to you, and something we can discuss during your time in therapy.
