Therapy for Depression

Helping adults with depression find meaning and joy in life again.

Sometimes life sucks. Perhaps right now is one of those times.

Most people who start therapy for depression feel stuck, or lost in life on some level, unable to find their way. Perhaps you can relate. Maybe you don’t look forward to much or you feel like you want to escape your life.

You may feel unmotivated to do anything in your free time, even things that you used to enjoy. Your sleeping or eating patterns might be out of whack, which just makes you feel worse. Getting through your day at work or home feels like such a struggle when it used to be relatively easy.

Stuck in negativity and feeling miserable and hopeless, you may feel like life is exhausting or is being wasted on being unhappy. You may have felt this way for a long time, or this might be a new feeling for you. Regardless, given how you are feeling right now, it may be difficult to imagine that things could ever get better, or that you could feel joy or fulfillment again.

Do You Feel Numb, Irritated, Empty, and Hopeless?

Do any of the following resonate with you?

  • Your energy levels are at an all time low.

  • You feel like you lack motivation to do anything.

  • You feel lonely, even when you are with others.

  • You feel unable to complete your day-to-day responsibilities.

  • You wake up every morning feeling overwhelmed and depressed.

If these sound true for you, I want you to know that you are not alone. Many of my clients struggle with these difficulties.

Even though you might feel like a failure for needing help, that couldn’t be further from the truth. It takes courage to become aware of what you are going through and to ask for help. Even if you don’t believe you deserve care, you do. You deserve to take care of yourself.

Therapy Helps You Climb Out of the Pit of Depression

You might have an idea of why these feelings started, or it might feel like they hit you out of the blue. In either case, it’s possible to feel better. Imagine a life where you could…

  • Have improved attitude, mood, and productivity.

  • Shift into a more positive and hopeful outlook on life.

  • Improve your relationship with yourself and those you choose to share yourself with.

  • Create a more meaningful life based on who you are and what you desire.

Restore Your Hope and Motivation

Therapy for depression helps you rise above your challenges and start moving towards your ideal life with less suffering and more fulfillment.

You will acquire the new mindset you need to change your behaviors and beliefs gradually, after which you will uncover strengths, learn new life skills, and start taking care of yourself.

I’ve helped people struggling with depression who have lost touch with who they used to be start to feel interested in life again. They have gained motivation and energy which helps them start to improve their relationships and their lives at work and home.

How Therapy for Depression Works

Therapy for depression consists of 50-minute, one-on-one sessions that help you work through your concerns. In addition to listening, I will ask questions, guide you toward solutions, and motivate you with ideas. I play an active role in therapy and won’t just sit there and stare at you the whole time. Here’s how it will work step-by-step:

  1. First, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space so that you will feel comfortable sharing your struggles with me.

  2. Through hearing your story, I will start to get a picture of what your challenges are.

  3. We will start with helping you with immediate concerns like managing difficult emotions and challenging life situations.

  4. We will also work to discover what your goals are in therapy and in life.

  5. Keeping your unique goals in mind, we’ll figure out what’s needed to help you reach them.

  6. Over the course of our sessions, you will start making progress towards the life you desire.

Research shows that therapy for depression can positively change your thinking, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors. It can help you let go of what’s holding you back.
